It
is a tough fight for the ladies out there as It's Allu Arjun's swagger that's
currently scorching all commercial records.
Pushparaj,
having risen in the smuggling syndicate, does not wish to be relegated to the
sidelines just as yet another third grade smuggler and aims to be a kingmaker
and yearns for respect. There are challenges ahead and Pushpa struggles to
sustain his sandalwood smuggling business in the face of tough opposition from
the police. This sequel of the earlier version Pushpa The Rise sets out to
raise the stakes, pitting Pushpa (Allu Arjun) against Banwar Singh Shekhawat
(Fahadh Faasil) and other formidable adversaries, while at the same time making
an attempt to explore his personal dilemmas more deeply.
The film astounds you with its treatment and each and every sequence bears testimony to the impact that it has when you leave the theatres even though it is overtly long with a duration of almost 200 minutes. What makes the film a must see is the fact that the director Sukumar has packed it with enough masala not to let you feel that the film bores you even for one minute
Whether
it is Pushparaj or Bhanwar Singh Shikhawat, or even Pushpa's better half
Srivalli (Rashmika Mandana) each and every character impresses the viewer, with
each character impressing you with its inherent as well as extremely colorful
sketching of its various layers with perfection. The action sequences are truly
nail biting and the humor very situational. The highlight of Pushpa 2: The Rule
is a stunning 'Gangamma jatara' sequence, in which Pushparaj is seen draped in
a sari. This goes beyond recreating a festive ritual from Tirupati and Chittoor
where a male is generally dressed androgynously, and it is believed that any
wish of his to the Goddess will be granted. As far as the performances are
concerned, undoubtedly Allu Arjun is impeccable in the androgynous avatar,
succeeding in imbuing both ferocity and feminine grace. Rashmika Mandana as his
better half, though her performance is underwhelming in the first half, leaning
towards melodrama of the first order, renders a fierce role whether she cavorts
sexily with him on bed or picks an erotic fight with him in the kitchen over
salt in mutton. While Jagapathi Babu has been wasted in an inane role, it is
Fahaadh Faazil who puts in a stellar performance as the bad cop who chases
Pushpa

Kuba Brożek's cinematography, and the production design by Ramakrishna and
Monica, fill the frames with a myriad of eclectic hues, capturing the rustic
fervor in all its glory. The score by Devi Sri Prasad and Sam CS, especially
the mass appealing number Thappad Maroongi the dance item number by Sreeleela
adds the necessary vigor to these portions.
